Rebecca Rubin Sentenced to 5 Years for ELF/ALF Actions

Canadian Rebecca Rubin was sentenced in late January to 5 years in an American federal institution for her role in a number of arsons across the U.S. in the late 90’s believed to be responsible for $40 million in damage. She plead guilty after spending the last six years in hiding, but she came to feel ashamed, realizing her good-versus-evil perspective was “neither accurate nor constructive,” Rubin told Chief U.S. District Judge Ann Aiken. Her actions not only struck fear in others, but her life as a fugitive sabotaged her livelihood and ability to work for the causes she held dear, she said.

Despite turning herself in and her remorse, she has refused to talk about any of her accomplices.
