Run for Rights 2011

Once again this year we’ll be participating in Run for Rights - this year is the 10th annual run raising money in support of Winnipeg organizations working for social justice and human rights. We would love to have people pledge us, volunteer for us, or run for us! If you’re able, let us know by email at winnipegabc@riseup.net.

It’s been an embarrassingly long amount of time since this has been updated – we’ve been busy.

There is a brunch happening this Sunday, February 27 2011 at Mondragon Bookstore and Coffeehouse (91 Albert St) from 11 am – 2 pm. This one is in support of Carrie Feldman and Scott Demuth – some ALF/ELF class war prisoners from the Twin Cities. They are currently imprisoned on Green Scare charges.

Brunch is vegan biscuits and gravy (gluten free option available), and $10. We’ll also have a limited number of copies of “Secret world of terijian” – a kids book about eco-defense and a fundraiser for Green Scare defense.

We’ll update the site soon!

Has anyone had a chance to read this zine yet? It’s awesome, and explains the state of the prison industrial complex in Canada. Check it out!

All funds will go toward any legal fees that may accrue from the police state crackdown which will occur during the games. We will have baked goods for sale as well. Here are the details:

About Us

We are a prison abolition and political prisoner support group based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

We hold frequent fundraiser brunches, table events and do a monthly letter writing to insiders.

We’re currently taking a break from our books to prisoners project and a book recording project for inside mothers, but have worked with the Elizabeth Fry Society of Manitoba to start these up in the past.
